Apply Prime Minister’s Scholarship Scheme for RPF / RPSF (2023-24)

The Prime Minister’s Scholarship Scheme was first announced by the honorable Mr. Manmohan Singh, former Prime Minister of India on 15th August 2005 while he addressed the nation from Red Fort.

The main objective of this scholarship is to encourage professional education and higher technical education for the wards of serving or ex-serving RPSF and RPF personnel and their widows.

Interested and eligible candidates may read the complete guidelines for scholarship submission online for the year 2023-24. Candidates are requested to apply for the scholarship through the NSP official portal on or before 31st December 2023.

The final list of selected candidates will be published on the basis of the percentage of marks obtained in the previous academic year and the respective order of preference. The decision of RPF or DG, with regard to scholarship disbursal, will be final.

Eligibility Criteria:

• All dependent wards of serving or ex-serving RPF/RPSF personnel who have been admitted in a previous year for graduate/postgraduate programs are eligible to apply for 2023-24.

• For eligibility, the candidates must secure at least 60%marks in Minimum Educational Qualification i.e. 12th Std. or Graduation.

• The amount will be awarded for only two dependent wards per family and it should be ensured by the concerned zonal railways and the beneficiaries as well.

Number of Scholarships:

A total of 150 students will be awarded in each academic session. Of all the earmarked seats, half are for female candidates, i.e. 75 scholarships are reserved for female dependent wards of RPF/RPSF personnel.

Eligible Courses:

All professional degrees courses like MBBS, BHMS, BBS, BCA, BDS, B.Tech, MCA, B. Pharma, B.Ed, BE, and other similar courses recognized by the Government and state regulatory bodies, for example, MCI, AOCTE, UGC, and NCTE.

Duration:

The scholarship will be funded till the end term of the course a candidate is pursuing. The maximum duration of this scholarship will be five years.

How to Apply for PMSS Scheme 2023-24?

The application process for this scholarship will be accessed through the National Scholarship portal. The candidates need to visit the website https://scholarships.gov.in and submit the online form by 31st December 2023.

Documents Needed:

  • Duly attested scanned copy mark-sheet of 10+2/ Diploma/Graduation.
  • A scanned copy of the discharge certificate/PPO/book for categories I, II, and III.
  • Service certificate of serving or ex-serving personnel issued by respective offices.

Renewal of Application:

Each year, for the renewal of the scholarship, the students will be required to visit the NSP website and log in using the registered application ID that was generated the previous year. Documents like the previous year’s academic mark sheet and certificate shall be uploaded for renewal.

Disbursal of Scholarship:

The scholarship amount funded under PMSS would be transferred directly to the candidate’s bank account through a direct bank transfer or Public Finance Management System.

Last Date:

31st December 2023 is the last date to apply PMSS for the RPF scheme online.
