The Griha Lakshmi Yojana is the second guaranteed scheme introduced by the Congress government.
The scheme was recently approved by the cabinet and an official order has been issued by the government.
In this year’s Karnataka assembly elections, the Congress included this Gruha Lakshmi Yojana program in their manifesto. Soon the process of filling out the registration form will start, after which the beneficiary women can take advantage of it.
Objectives of the Scheme:
The scheme aims to empower housewives by offering them financial assistance, enabling them to contribute to their family’s income and enhance their overall financial situation. Additionally, it is anticipated that the scheme will help alleviate poverty by providing financial aid to households facing financial hardships and struggling to meet their basic needs. Furthermore, the scheme seeks to promote gender equality by acknowledging the valuable contributions of housewives within their families and extending financial support to them.

Eligibility Criteria:
- To be eligible for the scheme, the applicant must be a resident of Karnataka.
- Women who are listed as the head of the family in Antyodaya, BPL, and APL ration cards issued by the Department of Food and Civil Supplies are eligible for this scheme.
- If there are multiple women in the same family, the scheme will only be applicable to one woman.
- The primary objective of the scheme is to empower women, and therefore, only one woman from each family can apply for the scheme.
- To benefit from this scheme, the beneficiary’s bank account, and Aadhaar card must be linked.
- The scheme is not available if the woman’s husband or the family’s owner is the one responsible for the household’s income.
- The annual income of the family should not exceed Rs. 2 lakhs to qualify for the scheme.
- Individuals who have a regular income or file GST returns are not eligible for this scheme.
- Additionally, the applicant should not be receiving benefits from any other similar welfare schemes provided by the state or central government.
Karnataka Griha Lakshmi Scheme Start Date:
The application period for beneficiaries of this scheme will be from June 15th to July 15th. After that, the selection of beneficiaries will take place starting from July 15th. The funds will be transferred to the bank accounts of the selected beneficiaries on August 15th.

In order to further sustainable development and people’s well-being the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana, aims to light up 1 crore households by providing up to 300 units of free electricity every month.
The Government of India launched the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana (Prime Minister’s Solar Home: Free Electricity Scheme) on February 13, 2024. The objective of this scheme is to install rooftop solar power plants in one crore (10 million) households across the country. The total financial outlay for this initiative is Rs. 75,021 crore (approximately $10.3 billion).
The PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana is a significant step towards the Government of India’s goal of promoting renewable energy and reducing the country’s reliance on fossil fuels. Objective of PM – Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana:
Goal: Get 1 crore (100 million) homes to use solar power on their roofs.
Help: Provide free or low-cost electricity to 1 crore (100 million) homes, up to 300 units of electricity per month, by installing solar panels on their roofs.
Electricity Generation: The installed solar power will produce 1,000 billion units of renewable electricity. This will help reduce 720 million tons of carbon dioxide (a harmful gas) over the 25-year lifetime of the solar projects.
Building the Solar Ecosystem: Develop everything needed to make solar power work, like new laws, factories to make solar parts, a network of suppliers, and places to maintain and repair the solar systems.
