The MHRD and the UGC have taken a special interest in promoting higher education in the North Eastern Region. The main objectives of the Ishan Uday Scholarship Scheme for NER (North Eastern Region) are to provide higher studies in North Eastern Region.
The UGC Ishan Uday scheme provides fresh and renewal scholarship applications every single year for general, technical, and professional courses, including degree courses, and medical and Para-medical courses.
A total of 10,000 scholarships are accessible for students from the economically weaker sections of the North Eastern Region. These scholarships amount to Rs. 8,000 per month for a duration of 10 months within a year, aimed at providing financial assistance to students in the region.

1. Students with a domicile in the North Eastern Region who have passed Higher Secondary (XII Class) or equivalent from a school located in the North Eastern Region from any recognized Board.
2. For availing of the Ishan Uday scholarship the income of the parents and guardians of the student should not be more than Rs. 4.5 lakh PA.
3. This scholarship is exclusively open to students who are pursuing recognized undergraduate (UG) degree programs as specified and notified by the University Grants Commission (UGC) from time to time.
4. This scholarship is applicable to students pursuing their first undergraduate (UG) degree only. Students who have already obtained any other degree are not eligible to apply for this scholarship.
5. Students who have secured admission through the ‘Management Quota’ are not eligible to apply for this scholarship.
6. To be eligible for this scholarship, students must possess a valid Domicile Certificate from any state within the North Eastern Region (NER).
Scholarship Amount:
These scholarships provide financial assistance to students in the North Eastern Region (NER) and are valued at Rs. 8,000 per month for a period of 10 months each year. This support is intended to help students with their educational expenses and improve access to higher education in the NER. The NSP scholarship amount will be given through DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer) to the scholarship holder.
UGC offers 10,000 scholarships every year if the number of candidates exceeds the number of students who will be selected on the basis of Class XII or equivalent examination marks.
Application Renewal:
The scholarship scheme will be renewed during the period of the 1st-degree course scholarship will not be paid 2 times for the same year of study.

How to Apply for the Ishan Uday Scholarship Online?
Students are required to visit the NSP official website https://scholarships.gov.in in order to apply online. Submit the duly filled-in application form complete in all respects along with scanned attested copies of certificates.
