Ministry of Minority Affairs launched the “Hamari Dharohar Scheme” to preserve the rich culture and heritage of minority communities of India.
India is renowned for its rich and unique heritage that bespeaks our glorious past. India’s heritage is the identity of India and its people. People from numerous castes and creeds reside in our country. Each and every caste has its own culture and customs. Every religion has its own set of festivals, dance forms, music, and art form, which furnish our country with charm and vibrance.
Besides all these, India beholds magnificent beautiful monuments built by our great past rulers and flaunts our royal past. Each of our monuments is known for its architectural design and is unique in its own way. Taj Mahal, Qutub Minar, Red Fort, Charminar, Konark Sun Temple, Ajanta Caves, India Gate, and Gateway of India Mumbai are some of the monuments.
We have valued our varied cultures and tradition and preserved them carefully for future generations. We give utmost importance to the preservation of our culture as well as of others. Thus, the Indian government has come forward to assist the people with the preservation of culture.
This scheme is formulated to preserve the rich heritage of minority communities in India. Ministry of minority affairs launched the scheme in the year 2014-15. It provides for promoting the rich heritage of minority communities through exhibitions, preservation of literature, art, etc. Preservation of monuments has been excluded from the scheme. According to National Commission for Minorities Act 1992, there are 6 minority communities i.e., Parsis, Jains, Christians, Buddhism and Muslims.
Recently, Dharohar Scheme has been merged as a component of the Pradhan Mantri Virasat Ka Samvardhan (PM VIKAS) Scheme. It aims to provide better livelihood to minorities, especially the artisan community through skill development, education, and leadership training. Also, to spread more knowledge regarding heritage, the government conducts research and aids in community development.
Projects approved under the scheme:
Preservation of literature, documents, manuscripts, etc
Supporting calligraphy and related crafts.
Curating exhibitions including iconic exhibitions.
Documentation of oral traditions and art forms.
Support to ethnic museums (not supported under schemes of the Ministry of Culture or its bodies) for showcasing and preserving the heritage of minority communities.
Support for organizing heritage-related seminars/workshops.
Fellowship for research in the preservation of heritage and development.
Any other support to individuals/organizations in furtherance of the cause of protection and promotion of the rich heritage of minority communities.
Eligible Organizations:
It should be a recognized and registered organization under the law. Artists should be 3 years old and have 25 years of experience in the related field of preserving heritage.
Renowned organizations like Aga Khanna Foundation.
Recognized University/research institution with all the noted facilities.
A Central/State Government organization or their related organizations engaged in the field.
Any Corporation, Trust, Partnership firm, or Society that is related to the field and recognized under the Societies Registration Act 1960.
• The applicant must belong to a minority community. • Should be Post Graduate with a minimum of 50% marks. • Should have admission to University/Institute for regular M. Phil/Ph.D. • Should not be more than 35 years of age. • Fellowship must not be used to run workshops, seminars, record memoirs or write fiction or autobiography. • Annually, 33% of seats are reserved for Minority Girl/Women Candidate.
Fellowship Benefits:
The amount provided to the students is Rs. 25,000/month for 2nd-year students and Rs. 28,000/month for 3rd-year students. The fellowship amount is provided for a maximum of 3 years only. If the research is not completed in 3 years, it may extend for a maximum of 1 year at Rs. 28,000/month.
Procedure for Applying:
When the posts are open for Hamari Dharohar Scheme 2023, the Ministry of Minority Affairs publishes an advertisement on its official website www.minorityaffairs.gov.in
Also, Ministry directly finances the organizations of specialists who are well-known in this field or serve on the Ministry of Culture Panel for Curating work.
The Project Approval Committee views and approves the project under the rules and regulations implemented by the Ministry.
However, Ministry beholds the right to end the selection process abruptly at any given time.
Atlast, the Secretary, will have to give its consent before final approval of the proposals chosen by PIAs.
The fellowships shall be awarded to only those applicants who undertake any research-oriented project, which meets the objective of the ‘Hamari Dharohar’ scheme. The Namo Drone Didi scheme provides 15,000 women-led Self Help Groups (SHGs) with agricultural drones and training to perform tasks such as crop monitoring, fertilizer spraying, and seed sowing.
The scheme is a collaborative effort involving the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Rural Development, and the Department of Fertilizers to ensure holistic interventions and efficient implementation.
The selection of eligible SHGs and feasible clusters is based on criteria to maximize the impact of the scheme, with financial assistance and loans provided to the SHGs for drone purchases.
Lead Fertilizer Companies act as intermediaries, procuring drones and transferring ownership to the SHGs, while also promoting the use of Nano Fertilizers.
Drone technology is transforming the Indian agriculture sector, enabling precision agriculture, resource optimization, and improved efficiency and safety for farmers.
The integration of drones in agriculture represents a significant step towards a more sustainable, efficient, and data-driven agricultural future in India.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has interacted with the Namo Drone Didis and distributed drones to 1,000 beneficiaries.
Beneficiaries:
15,000 women-led Self Help Groups (SHGs).
Only SHGs women from lower economic groups can participate.
In order to further sustainable development and people’s well-being the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana, aims to light up 1 crore households by providing up to 300 units of free electricity every month.
The Government of India launched the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana (Prime Minister’s Solar Home: Free Electricity Scheme) on February 13, 2024. The objective of this scheme is to install rooftop solar power plants in one crore (10 million) households across the country. The total financial outlay for this initiative is Rs. 75,021 crore (approximately $10.3 billion).
The PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana is a significant step towards the Government of India’s goal of promoting renewable energy and reducing the country’s reliance on fossil fuels. By installing rooftop solar plants in one crore households, the scheme aims to increase the adoption of clean energy and improve the energy access for millions of people across India.
The scheme is designed to provide free electricity to the beneficiary households, making it accessible and affordable for a large section of the population. The scheme would be implemented through the National Portal https://pmsuryaghar.gov.in. The subsidy/CFA under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana would be applicable to all applications submitted on the portal on or after 13-02-2024.

Goal: Get 1 crore (100 million) homes to use solar power on their roofs.
Help: Provide free or low-cost electricity to 1 crore (100 million) homes, up to 300 units of electricity per month, by installing solar panels on their roofs.
Electricity Generation: The installed solar power will produce 1,000 billion units of renewable electricity. This will help reduce 720 million tons of carbon dioxide (a harmful gas) over the 25-year lifetime of the solar projects.
Building the Solar Ecosystem: Develop everything needed to make solar power work, like new laws, factories to make solar parts, a network of suppliers, and places to maintain and repair the solar systems.
Benefits: Boost the local economy, create more jobs, and make the country’s energy supply more secure.
