About Intercaste Marriage:
Marriages in India predominantly occur within the same caste. Though we are in the 21st century, instances of violence resulting from inter-caste marriages continue to persist. Promoting inter-caste marriages on a larger scale is crucial for achieving social equality.
The promotion of inter-caste marriages in India aims to foster social integration and promote equality and harmony within society. However, the prevalence of inter-caste marriages is influenced by a variety of socio-economic and demographic factors, which vary across different regions of the country.
Inter-caste married couples frequently face intense physical attacks, social exclusion, and economic boycotts. The government of Odisha started Inter Caste Marriage Scheme to provide financial assistance to inter-caste married couples to aid their integration into mainstream society.
This scheme was launched by the Chief Minister of Odisha, Shri. Naveen Patanaik in the year 2017. A web portal is launched to establish social equality and promote Inter Caste Marriage. The portal is developed by the SC and ST development, Minority, and backward welfare departments. An incentive amount of Rs. 2.5 lakhs is given to the couple who registers their marriage in the portal.
Initially, the incentive amount was about Rs. 50,000/-. In August 2017, the Government hiked the amount to Rs. 1 lakh, and later in October 2020, another hike of amount Rs. 1.5 lakhs was announced. Now, in 2023 the total incentive amount makes up Rs. 2.5 lakhs.

The first and foremost objective of the scheme is to promote Inter Caste Marriage. This scheme aims to provide assistance to couples who intend to marry a person from another caste. These couples play a major role to obstruct social inequality and integration.
The scheme provides financial help to the couple to have a peaceful life amidst opposition from a wide range of people. This scheme also aims to bring harmony to society. It has been successful throughout the years and bringing more people to feel free and move forward with their decision strongly. It establishes freedom, equality, and fraternity in society.
The incentive for a lawful inter-caste marriage is Rs. 2.5 lakh per couple. Once the application is approved, the eligible couple will receive Rs. 1.5 lakh directly into their joint account. The remaining Rs. 1 lakh will be placed in a fixed deposit for a duration of 3 years. After 3 years from the date of the incentive’s approval by the foundation, the couple will be given the deposited amount along with the accrued interest.
Eligibility for the Scheme:
Marriage must be between Hindu and SC/ST Communities belonging to Hindu Caste.
Inter Caste Marriage must be valid by the law and duly registered under the Hindu Marriage Act, of 1955.
Both spouses must be permanent residents of Odisha.
The incentive amount should only be used to buy land/necessity items or to start a business.
Only the first Inter Caste Marriage couple is eligible for the incentive amount. Exception, where a bride is a widow or Bride-Groom is a widower.
The above-mentioned facilities are only granted after the date of issue or the Government issued a resolution.

Note: The incentive amount will be transferred to the respective couple’s Bank account within 2 months of registration. The couple can only use the incentive amount after 3 years of marriage to avoid fraud.

The Namo Drone Didi scheme provides 15,000 women-led Self Help Groups (SHGs) with agricultural drones and training to perform tasks such as crop monitoring, fertilizer spraying, and seed sowing.
The scheme is a collaborative effort involving the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, Rural Development, and the Department of Fertilizers to ensure holistic interventions and efficient implementation.
The selection of eligible SHGs and feasible clusters is based on criteria to maximize the impact of the scheme, with financial assistance and loans provided to the SHGs for drone purchases.
Lead Fertilizer Companies act as intermediaries, procuring drones and transferring ownership to the SHGs, while also promoting the use of Nano Fertilizers.
Drone technology is transforming the Indian agriculture sector, enabling precision agriculture, resource optimization, and improved efficiency and safety for farmers.
The integration of drones in agriculture represents a significant step towards a more sustainable, efficient, and data-driven agricultural future in India.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has interacted with the Namo Drone Didis and distributed drones to 1,000 beneficiaries.

Only SHGs women from lower economic groups can participate.
In order to further sustainable development and people’s well-being the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana, aims to light up 1 crore households by providing up to 300 units of free electricity every month.
The Government of India launched the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana (Prime Minister’s Solar Home: Free Electricity Scheme) on February 13, 2024. The objective of this scheme is to install rooftop solar power plants in one crore (10 million) households across the country. The total financial outlay for this initiative is Rs. 75,021 crore (approximately $10.3 billion).
The PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana is a significant step towards the Government of India’s goal of promoting renewable energy and reducing the country’s reliance on fossil fuels. The subsidy/CFA under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana would be applicable to all applications submitted on the portal on or after 13-02-2024.

Goal: Get 1 crore (100 million) homes to use solar power on their roofs.
Help: Provide free or low-cost electricity to 1 crore (100 million) homes, up to 300 units of electricity per month, by installing solar panels on their roofs.
Electricity Generation: The installed solar power will produce 1,000 billion units of renewable electricity. This will help reduce 720 million tons of carbon dioxide (a harmful gas) over the 25-year lifetime of the solar projects.
