Lalit Kala Akademi Scholarship Scheme for 2022-23

Lalit Kala Akademi (LKA) is an autonomous organization established by the Government of India, Ministry of Tourism and Culture. It holds exhibitions, scholarships, sponsorship, fellowship, schemes, and awards. It also conducts the National Exhibition of Photography and Art all over the world.

Lalit Kala Akademi, National Academy of Arts is the Indian Government’s apex art and culture organization that supports artists and art institutions working in visual arts, multi-media art practices, community arts, and folk and tribal arts.

It presents exhibitions and strong public programs of unparalleled significance; by sustaining a library, archives, and conservation laboratory, and by providing scholarship and publication of pre-eminent intellectual merit all over the country.

The Ministry of Culture is to preserve and promote all forms of art and culture. It is responsible for the formulation of policies of the Government in relation to Indian art, culture, and heritage and also for the execution, monitoring, and review of those policies.

To achieve the goals by optimum use of the funds available and proper functioning of the organization. Lalit Kala to be made more inclusive of art communities in the urban and rural hinterlands.

The selected scholars will be required to work in one of the Regional Centers of the Akademi specified above. He/ She will have to submit at least two works photographs considered suitable by the Head of the Regional Centre/Institution every month duly certified.

The Akademi will explore possibilities for skill development for its artists and employees by introducing training sessions by experts in art management/appreciation to enhance their creative skills.

The Akademi will be introducing an online application for gallery booking, grants, and scholarship schemes in a phased manner. It will provide the Art etc. to Door Darshan Bharati.

Though Akademi is not an educational institution it will definitely give emphasis on cultural research and art education activities in association with NCERT and other organizations. The Akademi will conduct workshops and seminars as well as publish books/portfolios etc. to promote traditional art and artists.

Objectives of Scheme:

LKA focuses on visual arts like Painting, Sculpture, Photography, and Ceramics. The objective of awarding scholarships to young and bright artists is mainly to offer them work to improve their skills, abilities, and innovative ideas in their respective fields.

To provide scholarship grants and prizes to deserving candidates and to accord recognition to artists for outstanding achievements. The LKA is an autonomous organization fully funded by the Ministry of Tourism and Culture, Government of India.

Number of Scholarships:

A maximum number of 40 scholarships will be awarded during the academic year 2022-23.

Age Limit:

Between 21 to 35 years. Age relaxation is not permissible.

Duration:

The duration and term of the proposed scholarship will be for 12 months (one year).

Scholarship Amount:

Each scholarship holder will get paid Rs.20,000/- pm for one year subject to fulfillment of the criteria. The amount will be transferred directly into the bank account of the beneficiary through NEFT every month.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • The scholarship award will be given only to those candidates who fulfill all the eligibility criteria.
  • The students must have an art-related background or Degree/diploma in the field of art or working experience in visual art for a minimum of 5 years.
  • Applicants need to work full-time on all working days.
  • Applicants should have an acceptable qualification to continue their scholarship award effectively.
  • Candidates engaged in a full-time job or any business is not eligible for the scheme scholarship. Those candidates who are pursuing regular studies are also not eligible.
  • The state/UT in which the candidates have been residing for a minimum of three years will be the State or UT from which he would be deemed to be applying.
  • Scholars who have already availed of a Research Grant/Stipend in the past are not eligible.
  • A scholar should not avail of any other stipend.
