What is PICME?

The full form of Tamil Nadu Govt PICME is “Pregnancy and Infant Cohort Monitoring and Evaluation”.

As the name suggests, this scheme ensures that every pregnant woman in Tamil Nadu gets proper medical care and facilities to ensure the healthier development of the baby along with the mother.

Under this scheme, you will receive financial aid; have access to medical care and early screenings to determine your child’s health.

The Pregnancy and Infant Cohort Monitoring and Evaluation are more of an initiative rather than just a mere scheme.

You cannot avail of the birth certificate of your newborn until you provide the Scheme card.

It is considered to be a milestone as it takes into consideration both the health and safety of the mother along with their newborns.

What are the Benefits of PICME?

The PICME number will make it easier for pregnant women to get access to medical care quickly and be updated on their health regularly.

Pregnant women under this scheme are taken care of by professional and qualified doctors as well as nurses who ensure the safety of both mothers, and the child.

The Applicant number is essential to avail the birth certificate of your newborn so keep it safe.

Apart from this, you will also get financial aid or incentives. You will get up to 12,000 INR as a financial incentive in two installments.

The first installment is allotted after the onset of 3rd trimester and the second installment is allotted after the delivery.

How to Apply for the Scheme?

  • You can apply for a PICME card and register online easily from TN Gov’s official website www.picme.tn.gov.in.
  • You will be allotted an identification number, and the online registration system makes it easier to verify pregnant women under this initiative.
  • Applicants have to choose the administrative unit very carefully and fill in the accurate details in the form to avoid any inconvenience during the verification process.
  • A pregnant women can register themselves under this initiative from the beginning of the pregnancy until the end.
  • However, everyone who registers under this scheme will receive a 12-digit identification number (RCH ID) that must be saved.

How to do Pre-Registration?

1. Online Self-registration: Self-registration can be done easily by the pregnant mother herself by visiting Tamil Nadu Govt. official website https://picme.tn.gov.in/picme_public. Once the process is completed you will get the acknowledgment, and a Pre-registration Id for future reference.

2. Through e-Seva Centres: The pregnant woman can also visit the nearest Seva center and register her pregnancy without any fee.

3. Through Call Centre (102): Pregnant women can even call 102 a toll-free number and register.

4. Through Government Hospitals: You can also go to any Government Hospital and register yourself.

Documents needed for registration:

  • Aadhar card
  • For residential proof, your husband’s Aadhar card
  • Marriage certificate
  • Scan and other relevant medical reports
  • Prescriptions from the gynecologist
  • Two photographs
  • Bank passbook along with the accurate record of your last 3 months’ transaction

After you register under PICME, you will receive a green card that has to be given at the hospital during the delivery. You can also register under PICME after delivery and avail of the birth certificate at the earliest.
