One of the most talked-about schemes in India is Ayushman Bharat Scheme also known as Pradhan Mantri Ayushman Bharat Yojana (PMJAY). It has become a game-changer in India in terms of healthcare. So we understand your curiosity to know about PM-JAY.

This scheme will cover 55 crore financially low and underprivileged families by providing cashless coverage up to Rs. 5 Lakhs per family every year. This scheme is applicable for secondary and tertiary care hospitalization.

What is Ayushman Bharat Scheme?

The Prime Minister of India has introduced Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana, PMJAY which is also known as Ayushman Bharat Yojana. This scheme is basically introduced to help economically challenged Indians who are looking for immediate health attention.

Under this Scheme, the government will provide cover for 50 crore Indian citizens. This scheme was introduced on 23 September 2018.

However, as of September 2019, 18,059 hospitals have been registered with it and over 40 lakh beneficiaries have taken treatment. Also, more than 10 crore e-cards have been already issued.

PM-JAY Scheme Key Features:

• The largest health insurance/assurance program in the world, PM-JAY, is entirely funded by the government.

• For secondary and tertiary care hospitalization in both public and private impaneled hospitals in India, it offers a cover of Rs. 5 lakhs per family per year.

• These benefits are available to around 10 crore poor and vulnerable families.

• At the point of service, which is the hospital, PM-JAY offers the beneficiary cashless access to healthcare services.

• Up to 3 days of pre-hospitalization and 15 days of post-hospitalization costs, including medical tests and medications, are covered in Ayushman’s scheme.

• There are no limitations on the number of children, age, or gender.

• All pre-existing conditions are covered from the first day 

• The scheme’s benefits are transferable throughout the nation; a recipient may visit any public or private hospital in India that has been accredited to receive cashless care.

• Approximately 1,393 procedures are included in the services, which comprise all treatment-related expenses such as medications, equipment, diagnostic services, physician fees, accommodation and board, surgical fees, OT and ICU fees, etc.

• Healthcare services provided by public hospitals are paid for on par with those provided by private hospitals.

Benefit Cover Under PM-JAY:

Each qualified household receives a cashless coverage of up to Rs.5,00,000 annually through the PM-JAY scheme. The following costs related to the treatment are all covered by the scheme’s insurance.

Benefits are available on a family floater basis, allowing any number of family members to make use of them. There is no upper limit on the number of family members or their ages because of the way PM-JAY has been structured.

Moreover, pre-existing conditions are covered right away. This means that starting the day they participate in the program, any eligible person who has ever had a medical condition that was not previously covered by PM-JAY will be able to receive treatment for all of those ailments as well.

How to Apply for the Ayushman Bharat Scheme?

Are you looking forward to applying for PMJAY? So follow these steps to know how to apply Ayushman Bharat Scheme.

  • Visit the official website of PMJAY https://mera.pmjay.gov.in.
  • Log on to the official website and go to the home page
  • Enter your mobile number that is linked to your Aadhaar card
  • Enter the available captcha and click on generate OTP
  • You will receive an OTP to your mobile number.
  • If you enter the correct OTP, you will be verified by the website.
  • Follow the instructions and give the required details.
  • After entering the details, you can check your eligibility to apply Ayushman Bharat Scheme.

Who are eligible to apply for Ayushman Scheme?

As per the Ayushman Bharat Yojana scheme, economically backward families can apply for this scheme. However, there are certain eligibility criteria you should meet. The eligibility for this scheme is segregated into Rural and Urban Areas. Check out the list below.

In Rural Areas:

In rural areas, the following occupation people are eligible to apply and register with PMJAY.

  • Households living in one room in Kucha walls and roof
  • Households with age from 16 to 59 with no head members in the family
  • The family is headed by a female without a male adult with ages from 16-59
  • Households having disabled members and no able adult member
  • Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes
  • Landless households with income from labor works
  • Households with no shelter to live
  • Bonded laborers who are legally released
  • Scavenger Families
  • Primitive tribal families

In Urban Areas:

The people who want to apply for Ayushman Bharat Scheme should belong to the following occupation or work.

  • Domestic workers
  • Street vendors, cobblers, hawkers, and other service providers on the streets
  • Construction workers like Plumbers, laborers, security guards, welders, painters, coolies, and head-load workers
  • Beggars
  • Ragpickers
  • Sweeper and Sanitation workers
  • Tailors, home-based workers, handicraft workers
  • Transport workers like drivers, conductors, cleaners, cart pullers, and rickshaw pullers
  • Shopworkers like assistants, peons, helpers, delivery agents
  • Electricians and repair workers
  • Washer-mans, assemblers, attendants, waiters, and mechanics

Once you check your eligibility and register under Ayushman Bharat Scheme, you don’t need to enroll anywhere. You can directly go to the impaneled hospitals with your identification proof and get treatment for yourself.

Atal Pension Yojana Eligibility, and Benefits:

  • The Atal Pension Yojana is a pension scheme for employees in the unorganized sector who do not have statutory pension plans.
  • The scheme is open to Indian citizens between 18 and 40 years old who have a savings account and an Aadhaar card.
  • APY offers a guaranteed pension of Rs.1,000-5,000 per month from age 60, based on the contributor’s monthly payment.
  • The scheme provides death benefits, where the spouse receives the pension, and the nominee gets the corpus if both subscriber and spouse pass away.
  • There is an option for early exit after 10 years with accumulated corpus and interest.
  • APY is also available to private sector employees, and contributions can be made through automatic debit from the linked bank account.
  • Failure to contribute regularly results in penalties, ranging from Re. 1 to Rs. 10 per month, depending on the contribution amount.

In order to further sustainable development and people’s well-being the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana, aims to light up 1 crore households by providing up to 300 units of free electricity every month.

The Government of India launched the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana (Prime Minister’s Solar Home: Free Electricity Scheme) on February 13, 2024. The objective of this scheme is to install rooftop solar power plants in one crore (10 million) households across the country. The total financial outlay for this initiative is Rs. 75,021 crore (approximately $10.3 billion).

The PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana is a significant step towards the Government of India’s goal of promoting renewable energy and reducing the country’s reliance on fossil fuels. By installing rooftop solar plants in one crore households, the scheme aims to increase the adoption of clean energy and improve the energy access for millions of people across India.

The scheme is designed to provide free electricity to the beneficiary households, making it accessible and affordable for a large section of the population. The scheme would be implemented through the National Portal https://pmsuryaghar.gov.in. The subsidy/CFA under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana would be applicable to all applications submitted on the portal on or after 13-02-2024.

Objective of PM – Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana:

Goal: Get 1 crore (100 million) homes to use solar power on their roofs.

Help: Provide free or low-cost electricity to 1 crore (100 million) homes, up to 300 units of electricity per month, by installing solar panels on their roofs.

Electricity Generation: The installed solar power will produce 1,000 billion units of renewable electricity. This will help reduce 720 million tons of carbon dioxide (a harmful gas) over the 25-year lifetime of the solar projects.

Building the Solar Ecosystem: Develop everything needed to make solar power work, like new laws, factories to make solar parts, a network of suppliers, and places to maintain and repair the solar systems.

Benefits: Boost the local economy, create more jobs, and make the country’s energy supply more secure.
