Apply Merit-cum-Means Based Scholarship Tamil Nadu (2022-23)

BC and MBC welfare Department is inviting scholarships (fresh and renewal) for BC, MBC, and Minority students studying professional/technical courses for 4 years and above.

Including MBA and above through the online official website https://scholarships.gov.in for granting merit-cum-means-based scholarships. The scholarship will be provided strictly on a merit basis whose a student has obtained 50% of marks prescribed by the government of India.

The parent’s annual income should not be more than Rs.250 lakh from all sources. The rules and conditions of the scholarship of other state students will be governed by regulations of the respective state government to which the students belong.

Students belonging to minority communities are hereby advised to apply for merit cum means-based scholarships online. The details are also available at the minority welfare official site.

Students are advised to submit their hard copy of the application along with necessary documents on or before the last date.

The state government has been at the forefront of the upliftment of Minorities. This Government is implementing various welfare schemes effectively for the social, educational, and economic development of the Minorities.

The scholarship grant will be transferred directly to the bank account of the scholarship holder. 31st November 2023 is the last date to fill out the fresh/ renewal application online.

The Directorate of the minority’s welfare department provides merit cum means based on fresh and renewal scholarships for the academic year 2023 for BC, MBC, and minority community students.

The students belonging to the BC/ MBC (Tamil Nadu) category who are eligible for Government of Tamil Nadu scholarships (renewal/fresh) are directed to submit the filled-in application forms on or before the last date, along with the following documents.

Eligibility Criteria for Merit-cum-Means:

  • Candidates pursuing any professional or technical courses, with/without taking any competitive exam are eligible to apply.
  • Candidates must secure at least 50% marks in the previous examination.
  • The selection of scholars will be done on the basis of merit.
  • The family annual should not be more than Rs.2.50 lakh from all sources.
  • For scholarship renewal, students must score a minimum of 50% marks.
  • The scholarship will be given only to 2 children in the same family.
  • The income proof certificate will be valid only for 1 year.
  • Scholarship holders should not avail of any other scholarship/stipend for the same studies.
  • Students need to apply online only no offline mode application will be accepted.
  • Scholarship renewal for the following years completely depends on the performance of the students.

Scholarship Amount:

  • The full course fee will be reimbursed to the students who are studying in listed colleges/institutions.
  • For other colleges/institutions course fees of Rs. 20000/- and maintenance allowances Rs. 1000/- pm for hostellers and Rs.500/- for day scholars.

Applicants are required to visit the scholarship official website https://scholarships.gov.in in order to apply online. Applicants should also submit the printout of the application form along with the necessary documents before the last date.
