SSPCA Scheme: Support to Students for Participating in Competition Abroad

There are many engineering colleges but hardly any students are able to get employment today. The main reason is the increasing number of engineers and limited seats, the competition has risen for even a low-paying job out there.

This scheme is needed to increase the culture of education among the students and to have a hand in research. The primary purpose of this scheme is to provide support to engineering students. This scheme will provide them financial assistance who wishes to go ahead in their technical field and apply to some kind of abroad competition.

The application of this scheme should be sent in an offline way to the AICTE New Delhi office. The applicants should take care that their application along with the required documents should reach the office of AICTE two months before the actual event.

Applicants must provide all the details correctly. This application should also include important details such as the competition organizer’s acceptance letter and other competition details. If there is more than one proposal submitted for the same competition, they will only select one of them who has appeared at the top of a certain national event.

Objectives of the Scheme:

The primary objective is to provide financial assistance to engineering students who are traveling abroad to attain some international-level competition. There should be at least 2-10 minimum students in a group of students participating in the competition. Under this scheme, these students will be getting fees for travel registration.

Eligibility for SSPCA Scheme:

  • The number of students should not be more than 10 in a group.
  • These students should be enrolled in a specific technical field.
  • Applicants must be studying the course that is approved by AICTE in a recognized technical institution or university.
  • The students should be studying in BE or B.Tech under a recognized university.
  • They can even be from ME or M.Tech institutions and they should be studying in 1st or 2nd year.
  • Applicants must have a formal invitation for competing at an international level and the scientific event managers should have accepted those students.
  • This team of students should have won or achieved top honors at any national-level competition.
  • There will be only one chance given to the team of students under this scheme in their entire course duration.
  • A maximum of 1 lakh rupees per student will be provided under this scheme.
  • They will be given airfare provided, the institution takes care of airport and travel suggestions.
  • 1 lakh rupees also include visa charges and registration fees.
  • No more than 1 lakh will be permitted for each individual student.

How to Apply SSPCA Scheme?

  • Download the application formats.
  • Fill out the form correctly.
  • Attach all the required documents.

Send the form along with all the required documents by post to Prof. Dileep N Malkhede, Adviser RIFD, All India Council for Technical Education, Nelson Mandela Marg, Vasant Kunj, New Delhi – 110070.

Claim Submission:

Following is the list of documents that the candidate should submit after the competition is ended. The applicant should take care that they should do this within a month.

  • Applicants should provide the written account statement and details of the traveling expenditure.
  • Both the utilization certificate and the technical report should be submitted duly signed by the accountant or auditor of the university.
  • Documented details of any kind of help or assistance provided by the foreign agent or the organizers.
  • The details of the total amount that the institute made available.
  • A list of payable items as per terms and conditions.
  • Competitions participation certificate.
  • The details of the rate of conversion of Indian rupees into US dollars can be taken from any bank.
  • And the certification and the documents of the top honors award that the team has got from a national event.

Travel Claim:

The participating students must be traveling by the economy class. The tickets should be bought from any airline. The amount of tickets should be limited to the AC III class of the fare of the train in India. Anything other than this will not be acceptable.

Proposal Approval Procedure:

There will be various experts who will do the evaluation of the proposal sent by the team of students. There will be at least 3 experts doing this evaluation. After they had recommended it, AICTE will be taking the final decision of whether the proposal should be accepted or not. In case if the proposal is not accepted, the experts will recommend another team’s proposal.

Grant Release Proposal:

The amount under this scheme should be given to the team of students in one installment, which is one lac for each student. It is to be done after the competition ends. The applicants should then submit their documents.
