5 Best and Must Visit Trekking Places, Destinations, Spots in India
Trekking during the monsoons may not be a very wise decision for many but for those who are mad about adventure; the rains are the best time to enjoy the thrill a trek promises.
A country like India offers some amazing trek places every season in every corner be it south, east, north or west. It is exciting not to plan a holiday and get going wherever you want to, but monsoon trekking needs a little extra effort and care.
The monsoons are the best time to go trek and the country offers a long list of beautiful and pristine places to explore. Every season has its own charm and the monsoon is undoubtedly romantic as well as dangerous.
So, taking the necessary precautions while stepping out will make your journey and adventure much more comfortable. Be wise and do have a checklist before marching out to your preferred destination.
For instance, it would be advisable to check on the status of the weather for wherever you want to travel, on the kind of transportation available there, and also all your trekking equipment like ropes, comfy bags, sleeping bags, tents, raincoats, knives, torches, batteries, water containers, and first aid kit.
Wearing the right shoes and clothes can help you walk on the slippery plains and rocks and also help avoid leeches and the rain. Trekking in a group and with a guide will be more convenient rather than trekking alone during this season.
During this time of the year, traveling is much more reasonable and lighter on the pocket. The risk and fun side of the monsoon season are what makes it different. Listed here are some of the best and must-visit trekking places in India during the monsoon season.
List of Top 5 Best Trekking Places in India:
1. Hassil, Uttarakhand:
This is a village on the banks of the Bhagirathi River in the state of Uttarakhand. It is often referred to as the ‘hidden jewel of Uttarakhand.’
The place is peaceful and has greenery in abundance. Pine and fir trees lead the way making the journey very soothing. It offers the toughest & highest trekking experience with many established routes paving the way for a magnificent view of the Himalayas.
You can enjoy a four-hour ride from Dehradun either by public transport like a bus or taxi or by public transport like a bus or taxi or by taking a train from the nearest railway station in Rishikesh.
2. Wayanad, Kerala:
Wayanad is a district in Kerala and is known to be one of the best hill stations and another toughest trek in South India. A three-day monsoon festival called ‘splash’ is organized by Wayanad Tourism Organization, which adds up to the reasons to travel there.
The place offers lush greenery and a location for trekking, hiking, and mountain climbing. In Wayanad, the roadways are the only means of transport so taking a cab or bus will help you reach the place. Chembra is the highest peak in Wayanad.
3. Amboli Ghats, Maharashtra:
This is a hill station in Maharashtra, which is basically the last hill station before Goa. A well-planned trekking trip to Amboli will help you see a unique variety of flora and fauna and later a journey to Goa can be the best trip ever this monsoon.
Who said Goa was all about beaches and seafood? It has a lot more to offer especially during the monsoons. Its popular festivals – the feast of Saints Peter and Paul, Sao Joao, and Bonderam Flag Carnival take place during the monsoon season. So, combining the two trips will benefit you.
4. Dzukou Valley, Nagaland:
Also known as the ‘valley of flowers of the North East,’ this valley shares borders with Nagaland and Manipur located at an altitude of 2134 meters right behind Mount Japhu.
Trekking in the valley anytime between the months of June to September is the perfect time to experience the pure beauty of nature with many varieties of wildflowers, mountains, and streams. Bird watching too is constant activity around the year.
The valley is closest to Kohima, the capital of Nagaland. Take a train or plane to Dimapur, a district of Nagaland, and a ride to the valley in a cab or via the helicopter facility available.
5. Mandalpatti Hills, Karnataka:
These hills are one of the best yet least explored hills in Coorg, a district in Karnataka. To capture the spectacular beauty of the hills and viewing the green haven during the monsoons makes the trip worth it.
Tickets to trek the hill can be collected at the base of Mandalpatti from the authorities there. Only cab services are available if you fail to bring your own car.

Salar Jung Museum Hyderabad: Timings, Clock, Entry Fee, Location
Salar Jung Museum is a one-man collection of art. It was established in the year 1951. It is maintained by the Salar Jung Family. The family is one of the most illustrious families in Deccan history, five of them having been prime ministers in the erstwhile Nizam rule of Hyderabad-Deccan.
All the artifacts and art were collected by Nawab Mir Yousuf Ali Khan, more popularly known as Salar Jung III. After his death, the entire collection was left behind without an inheritor. It was the family members of the late Nawab who got together to gift the fabulous collection to the nation as there could not have been a better proposal.
Salar Jung Museum is considered the third largest museum in India. It was inaugurated by the First Prime Minister of India, Jawaharlal Nehru. In the year of 1968, the entire collection of the museum and the library was shifted to the present building from Diwan Deodi.
The present building is spread over 10 acres of land and consists of 2 floors. It comprises 3 buildings namely, Eastern Block (Mir Laiq Ali Khan Bhavan), Western Block (Mir Turab Ali Khan Bhavan), and the Indian/Central Block. There are 38 galleries in these 3 buildings altogether. 27 galleries are present in the Indian/Central Block, 7 galleries in the Western Block and Eastern Block houses 4 galleries.

The museum has a rare collection of around 43000 art objects, 9000 manuscripts, and 47000 printed books. The collection consists of one of the most famous clocks that is a 19th Century British Musical Clock. This clock was sold by Cooke and Kelvey of England. Another attraction is the Veiled Rebecca, marble statue which was created by an Italian sculptor G B Benzoni in 1876.
Salar Jung Museum Clock Show Timing:
One of the main attractions of the museum is the British Bracket Clock. Inside the clock, there’s a special thing that makes a little toy man with a beard come out 3 minutes before each hour. When it’s exactly the 60th minute, he hits a bell to match the time and then goes back inside (eg. 10 times at 10′ o clock). This clock is really cool and a lot of people come to the museum every day just to watch the toy man hit the gong at each hour.
