Directorate of Higher Education, Government of Assam has been providing scholarships to needy and meritorious (UG) undergraduate and (PG) postgraduate students every single year since its inception.

(P.G) Assam scholarship Research Scholarship

Application is invited by the DHE Assam through a committee is constituted by the Government of Assam and selected students for the Post Graduate Research Scholarship Scheme every year.

Time Period: Sep/Oct every year

Eligibility Criteria:

1. Students of Assam for research works or study within the state or outside the state.
2. Only the students who have good academic records and who obtained a minimum of 55% marks in the qualifying exam.
3. Students who have Bonafide residents of Assam.
4. The student should apply along with all documents and Mark sheets from HSLC Exam onwards to the DHE, Assam.
5. The Selected students have to execute a bond before taking advantage of the scholarship the amount drawn by the scholarship holders shall be refunded if he or she discontinues the research work or study during the period of scholarship for violating any rules and regulations of the award.
6. Students can collect the application form from the Directorate of Higher Education website https://directorateofhighereducation.assam.gov.in.
7. Students applying for the scholarship award must open a Bank Account in any Nationalized Bank.

Combined Merit Scholarship:

The Combined Merit Scholarship was published by the AHSEC-Assam Higher Secondary Education Council and furnished the same to the DHE to select the merit students for scholarships award as per marks obtained by the students in Higher Secondary Examination.

Applications for Combined Merit Scholarship to the students of Assam State for Pursuing Degree & Master Degree Courses in any recognized Universities in the State and other States.

Time Period:  After the result of the AHSEC-Assam Higher Secondary Education Council

Eligibility Criteria:

1. Only the students who have good academic records and who obtained a minimum of 60% marks in the qualifying exam.
2. Students who have Bonafide residents of Assam.
3. The student should apply along with all documents and Mark sheets from HSLC Exam onwards to the DHE, Assam.
4. Students can collect the application form from the Directorate of Higher Education website https://directorateofhighereducation.assam.gov.in.

Scholarships for Non-Hindi Speaking

National Merit Scholarships for Non-Hindi Speaking Candidates – Applications are invited by the DHE, Assam through advertisement from the Non-Hindi speaking students. Intending students can collect the prescribed format along with annexure – 1 by downloading it from the DHE website https://directorateofhighereducation.assam.gov.in.

Applications in the prescribed format are invited from the students studying Hindi as a subject (Whose mother tongue is not Hindi) in College/ University for the award of fresh scholarship to the Non-Hindi speaking states for the courses of graduate, postgraduate Ph.D., and M.Litt or equivalent programs.

An award once made will be tenable for the stage of the course for which it is given subject to good academic conduct and regularity in attendance and will be renewed if the student is promoted to the next higher stage of the class, subject to a good progress report and recommendation of appropriate academic authorities.
