SDF Sarojini Damodaran Foundation (SDF) provides scholarships to eligible and meritorious applicants from economically weak families. They help meritorious students from underprivileged backgrounds by supporting their higher education.
To make the program more scalable and self-sustainable covering all states in India, a new model of the program have been introduced which has been aptly named’ Vidyadhan’. Vidyadhan scholarship for 10th-passed students has multiple benefits.

Sarojini Damodaran Foundation (SDF) was founded by the undersigned, with an aim of uplifting the underprivileged, by providing them with opportunities for growth. The SDF came into being in 1999, owing to a sense of responsibility, and a desire to share with the less fortunate, what the Almighty has blessed us with.
Today, the foundation is a continuously growing entity expanding its reach to various causes which includes a scholarship for education, cardiovascular care, pension assistance, nutrition, organic agriculture, arts, and culture, all over the country.
The SDF foundation started with a small project, initially giving scholarships to poor students in Kerala. Here an attempt is being made to bring together sponsors and needy students whereby the sponsor can directly transfer the required amount to the student.
To make the program more scalable and sustainable, they have created a digital platform www.vidyadhan.org which allows direct sponsorship from external sponsors. Under this, external sponsors and students can come together. Those who are interested to contribute to the platform by sponsoring one or more students.
External sponsors can log into www.vidyadhan.org and browse through student profiles etc and decide whom they want to sponsor. The process of sponsorship is extremely simple and transparent. Funds are transferred directly from sponsor to student.
About Vidyadhan Scholarship:
Vidyadhan scholarship’s aim is to enable financially weak students who are academically brilliant to achieve their dreams. SDF enthusiastically supports brilliant students who are unable to pursue their schooling/ higher education due to a lack of funds.
SDF identifies students in need of financial assistance after matriculation through a rigorous process and supports them through senior school and graduation of their choice. Students of any stream can apply for the scholarship.
The applicants are selected after successful completion of the 10th class through a careful selection procedure. Vidyadhan scholarship program has nearly 1500 students across Kerala, Karnataka, Maharashtra, TN (Tamil Nadu), AP (Andhra Pradesh), and TS (Telangana).
The 10th-class passed students are eligible for a 2-year scholarship program. If they do well, then the stipend will continue to pursue any degree course of their choice.
Currently, the program has more than 4000 students from Kerala (KL), Karnataka (KA), Tamil Nadu (TN), Pondicherry (PC), Maharashtra (MH) Andhra Pradesh (AP), Gujarat GJ, Telangana (TS), Goa (GA), and Orissa.

Answer: Under the Vidyadhan, students have multiple benefits. It includes a substantial financial sponsorship ranging from Rs 10,000 to Rs 54,000 per year, depending on the course selected.
Question: How to apply for the scholarship online?
Answer: Students can directly apply online at www.vidyadhan.org. Once the application process is complete, a screening test of objective questions is conducted based on the class 10th syllabus on a single day.
Question: What is the selection process?
Answer: Students will be shortlisted for an interview based on their class X results and grades secured in the screening test. Following this, they have a personal interview with the students and make the final list of selected students. They have also conducted home visits to verify the student’s background.
Question: What are the eligibility criteria?
Answer: The scholarship is for economically backward students, for families with an annual income of under Rs. 2 lakhs. The students should have passed their Class X examination this year with A- grades.
Question: What is the last date to apply online?
Answer: The last date for application varies from state to state. The applications for the current year are over the next year’s date and will announce on the official website once the 10th-class results are published.
