About University:

The Calicut University was established in the year 1968 on 23 July, by the Govt. of Kerala has given the ordinance Number. 5/68 , and which was eventually replaced the Calicut University in the Act of 1975.

The main aim of the University is to develop the quality of the higher education in all spheres of and research of human development to the special reference in technological sectors and Technical to encourage art and culture specific to Kerala, to raise the backward educationally people and to precipitate the human development process in comparatively under developed areas of north side of Kerala.

Now, in 1995 after establishment of University of Kannur in 1995, the administration of University of Calicut is restrict to districts of Malappuram, Palakkad, Thrissur, Wayanad and Kozhikode (except the  two district  Mananthavady in Taluk ).

Thenhipalam is the main campus of the Calicut University and it is 23 km far away from Malappuram district and it is located in on either side of NH-17 Kozhikode city South of Kerala.
