About University: Madras University is 1 among the 5 oniversities in all over India to receive the special status of “Potentials of Excellence” from the UGC, Delhi.

The University of Madras has been growing from strength to strength and covering about twenty million people. It has been continuously expanding its teaching and research programs.

The University of Madras has sixty eight departments of study and research which spread over 4 campuses at Chepauk, Marina, Guindy and Taramani in Chennai.

Students advisory bureau was established by Madras Govt. in the year 1908. The students advisory bureau has its important function as giving information about different courses available in all over India and guiding the students for admission and courses.

The national service scheme has been started in the year 1969 in the University with the strength of two thousand students.
