NHPC Fellowship Scheme for Assam 2021-22

NHPC Limited has formulated ‘The NHPC Fellowship Scheme for Assam to give financial support and promote needy, meritorious, and talented candidates of Assam domicile, especially in the vicinity of Subansiri Lower H.E. Project.

The objective of the NHPC fellowship scheme is to provide and support the poor, eligible, and talented applicants of Assam state. NHPC is committed to socio-economic development and empowerment.

The total number of scholarships provided is 170 to the eligible applicants. Out of the total number of scholarships each year, 50% shall be reserved for the students from North Lakhimpur and Dhemaji districts.

Fellowship will be awarded on a merit cum income basis should submit the duly filled application form along with a copy of relevant supporting and necessary documents.

Number of Scholarships: 170 scholarships on merit-cum-means basis for the academic year 2019-20.

The objective of the Scheme: Spread quality education to the economically weaker section of our society and support meritorious and deserving candidates.

NHPC Fellowship

Eligibility Criteria of NHPC Fellowship:

1. NHPC Scholarship (Fellowship) scheme shall be admissible for candidates of Assam domicile only.

2. For Masters in different courses students who are pursuing Master Courses from IIT s/ NITs/IISc who are not getting any financial assistance/stipends are eligible to apply.

3. Students who are pursuing full-time or regular courses but not for Correspondence, distance education, and online mode in Colleges and Universities recognized by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) / State Education Board (SEB) / State Technical Education Boards (STEB)/ Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE)/ Central Board of Secondary. Education (CBSE) shall be eligible to apply.

4. Candidate must obtain at least 50% marks in qualifying examinations as mentioned above in overall OGPA and CGPA scale of grading system should be equivalent to 50% marks.

5. Students should not avail of any other fellowship or scholarship / financial assistance from any other source.

Annual Income:

Students’ family annual income should not be more than Rs. 2 lakhs from all sources. However, in case of non-availability of students within the stipulated income ceiling, the income ceiling can be relaxed up to Rs.4 Lakhs and the preference of selection shall be regulated as under:

  1. First Preference: Up to Rs. 2 Lakhs
  2. Second Preference: Above Rs. 2 – 3 Lakhs
  3. Third Preference: Above Rs. 3 – 4 Lakhs

Amount and Duration:

The fellowship /scholarship cover tuition fee, hostel fee, and incidental cost up to Rs.24,000/- per academic session (Rs. 2,000/-) per month. The Scholarship (Fellowship) is admissible from the 1st year till the final year of the course. The Scholarship shall not be given if the student fails to maintain at least 50% marks.

Disbursement:

The scholarship amount shall be paid every year in installments according to the number of semesters each year of the course. The amount will be credited directly into the candidate’s bank account.

Review and Renewal:

The scholarship will be reviewed upon the completion of the course every year depending on the progress and performance of the students. For scholarship renewal, students should submit the application to the Head of the Institution or College, within fifteen days from the result of their academic year.

Selection Mode: Selection will be made on the basis of the percentage of marks secured in the qualifying examination and the final selection will be made on Merit-cum-income basis. The list of selected candidates will be posted on NHPC Limited’s official website www.nhpcindia.com. The selected candidate will get informed by post or email.
