The CSIR-North East Institute of Science and Technology (NEIST), Jorhat, has introduced a scholarship scheme for the students of NE (North East) region to study at Bachelor’s Degree program in natural or basic sciences at B.Sc & B.Sc Honours, integrated M.Sc or MS programs in any recognized institutions in India.

Eligibility Criteria:
• The scholarship is applicable only to students from the NE (North East) region of India.
• The applicants must have secured at least 70% marks in 10+2 examinations.
• Every candidate must be admitted to a course of basic science at the degree level.
• Only the selected candidates are eligible for getting the training stipend.
• Students from economically weaker sections will be given preference
• The scholarship holders will not be allowed to avail of any other stipend.
The amount of the scholarship will be Rs.1500/- (Fifteen Hundred) per month.
In addition, Rs.1500/- stipend per month will be given for six months for training/project work.
Scholarship Duration:
The scholarship duration will be provided for a period of three years which covers the complete course.
Selection Process:
The scholarship scheme will be provided for one student from each state of the North East Region per year. The student’s selection will be made by an Award Evaluation Committee.
Seeking applications from the students scoring at least 70% in the 10+2 examination through ads in a leading newspaper.
Students from weaker sections will be selected for this NEIST scholarship award.
Selection of students will be made on the basis of merit.
If required a personal interview will be scheduled for the final selection.
The application form with the required documents should be submitted to the student before 31st August of every year. Short-listed applicants will be screened in order of merit. Announcement of the selected candidates, who are eligible for the scholarship stipend, will be declared on 26th September of every year.
Students should send the filled application form along with the related documents by speed post to the Head, Research Planning and Business Development (RPBD) Division, CSIR-North East Institute of Science and Technology, Jorhat-785006, Assam on or before the last date.
Payment of Scholarship:
The scholarship holders are eligible to get the scholarship from the joining date. The scholarship amount will be forwarded by the CSIR-NEIST, directly to the student’s bank account.
In order to receive the scholarship stipend, students must submit a copy of their progress card at the end of every semester. The applicant has to score a minimum of 70% marks in every semester and the student performance will be evaluated for the continuation of their scholarship program.
