Karnataka Ganga Kalyana Scheme is a major welfare scheme launched by the Karnataka Minorities Development Corporation. The scheme actually started in the year 1983. The main aim of the scheme is to provide irrigation facilities to poor and minor community farmers such as Muslims, Sikhs, Parsis, Jains, Christians, and Buddhism.

In areas where a perennial water source is not accessible, underground borewells are drilled at specific water points determined by expert geologists. Additionally, tanks are constructed to store water and facilitate its distribution through pipes to agricultural lands. It is important to note that this Karnataka Ganga Kalyana Scheme is fully subsidized.

Ganga Kalyana Scheme Overview:

The state government will provide irrigation facilities to eligible farmers by drilling borewells or digging open wells. Along with this, it has also planned to provide pump sets and other accessories. The government will hand out Rs. 1.50 lakh and Rs. 3 lakhs for individual borewells projects. The amount given will be for borewell drilling, and pump set supply.

Along with this, an amount of Rs. 50,000 for the electrification deposit is distributed. A group of farmers can also apply for common borwells use. A subsidy of Rs. 3,50,000 is provided to Banglore Rural, Kolar, Chikkmanglur, Ramanagara, and Tumkur District. Other districts of Karnataka are given a subsidy of Rs. 2,00,000.

Farmers in Kodagu, Dakshin Kannada, Udupi, Karwar, Chikkmanglur, Shivamogga, and Hassan districts holding 1-acre land, and farmers in other districts holding 1 acre and 20 Guntas and maximum 5-acre land can benefit from this scheme.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • Must belong to the minor community as per Government order.
  • Must be a permanent resident of Karnataka.
  • The annual income of families must not exceed
    In Rural areas: Rs. 96,000/-
    In Urban areas: Rs. 1,03,000/-
  • Must be in the age group between 18-55.
  • They must have an Aadhaar card, Voter ID, and Ration card for residence proof.
