D. S. Kothari Post Doctoral Fellowship in Science.

Young researchers, who have been awarded a Ph.D. degree in an appropriate subject, are eligible to apply for Kothari postdoctoral fellowship (DSKPDF).

Applications of the candidates are collected from universities wide and they are sorted out with the required information of the candidate. Candidates need to apply for the Kothari fellowship online through the official portal.

If the candidate is selected to apply for a fellowship, then the candidate needs to check out the website for the confirmation of his scholarship approval and their award will be applied to the next course on the website.

The Kothari postdoctoral fellowship award process is a never-ending process and will continue until all funds are exhausted. Applicants are chosen based on the availability of funds in the universities, and all available scholarships are given when the funds are available.

The selection process has to be completed within 6 weeks after the receipt of the individual application. Eligible candidates may apply for 2021-22 Kothari post-doc fellowships (DSKPDF) with a new research proposal only after one year from the date of deceleration of earlier results.

After downloading the award letter from the UGC website, the candidate has to submit a joining report forwarded through the Mentor, Head of the Department, and Registrar of the University to the UGC.

Eligibility for Kothari Post Doc Fellowship:

  • Candidate should hold their doctoral degree in the eligible subject, including research work to their credit.
  • The maximum age for applicants is 35 years and the relaxation age for SC/ST/OBC women candidates is applicable as per norms of the Indian government.
  • Only Ph.D. degree awarded unemployed applicants are going to be eligible for the D. S. Kothari fellowship.

Financial Assistance:

Students who were awarded scholarships will continue receiving their awards until they complete their graduation or change in their program. The financial assistance may be available by following the schemes:

Fellowship @ Rs. 43,800/- pm for I year


@ Rs.45,000/- pm for II year

@ Rs. 46,500/- pm for III year

Contingency @Rs.1,00,000/-p.a.

The candidate should involve in the fellowship within 3 months after receiving the award letter and those who fail will be treated as canceled. The amount involved in fellowship is disbursed in UGC designated bank into the bank account of awarded directly.

The entire information can be seen in the UGC portal and the candidates need to reach the designated bank with a photocopy, address, and a contact number in prescribed form pro forma. The candidate needs to submit every required document to the designated bank in the time period.

For every three months candidate need to submit a “Continuation Certificate” which makes him eligible for involvement in fellowship for the next three months in the prescribed pro forma Annexure 2.

If the candidate completed one year with the fellowship, then the fellow must show the present progress prescribed by UGC. He/she also needs to show present accounts of contingency grants and HRA certificates.

The portal of UGC provides information on all the profiles and the valid information concerned with all the universities/institutions and is beneficial through the DBT platform.

How To Apply for Kothari Fellowship 2021:

The D.S. Kothari post-doctoral fellowships applications are accepted all year. Candidates are required to apply online through DSKPDF or UGC official websites.

Candidates should also send the hard copy of the application form along with supporting documents to the National Coordinator of the Scheme within ten days from the date of the online application.
