About University:

Barkatullah University was known as Bhopal University previously and it was inaugurated in the year 1970. Barkatullah was the great freedom fighter of Bhopal and after him the university was named as Barkatullah University in the year 1988. The total land area of the University is around 400 acres.

The University is situated along the Hoshangabad Highway and it is about three kilometers away from the Habibganj railway station. The college is very huge in terms of its buildings; there are different blocks for different departments like administrative office, hostels, guesthouse, printing house, press, canteen etc.

There are different departments for different courses like Law block, Medical block, Engineering block, Life Sciences block, Physics block etc. This university also has an open distance learning University. There are also Institute of Technology and institute of Pharmacy in this university.

This university comprise of one hundred and seventy colleges, which are affiliated by Barkatullah University. There are colleges of Ayurvedic, Homeopathy, Physiotherapy, two colleges of education and one Engineering College.
