Abdul Kalam Technology Innovation National Fellowship by INAE

Abdul Kalam Technology Innovation National Fellowship will be awarded by the Indian National Academy of Engineering (INAE) to outstanding engineers to recognize, motivate, and support translational science by individuals to reach excellence in engineering, innovation, and technology development.

This fellowship will address all aspects of engineering, innovation, and technology. Interested and eligible applicants can apply for the fellowship for the academic year 2023-24 by following the guidelines given below. You can also apply for the Abdul Kalam Young Research Fellowship offered by TERRE.

Apply: DST Fellowship for Women Scientist Scheme

Eligibility Criteria:

  • The scheme applies to Indian citizens working in India as engineers in various positions in government-funded institutes.
  • The candidate must have sufficient professional qualifications and a bachelor’s degree.
  • As of the date of the award, the candidate shall have a minimum of 5 years of service left in the parent company.
  • The candidate should not hold any other fellowships, and if selected, they will be required to choose only one of the fellowships.

Fellowship Amount:

  • In addition to regular income, the fellowship pays monthly Rs. 25,000/-.
  • The annual research grant is Rs.15 lakh, which can be used for research activities such as the hiring of labor, consumables, travel expenses, chemicals, and equipment, among other things.
  • The host institute will receive an annual overhead of Rs.1.00 lakh.
  • The applicant is eligible for recurring research funds from the Government of India’s various S&T agencies’ extramural and other research initiatives.
  • The fellowship amount is taxable as per the Income Tax rule of the Govt. of India.

Fellowship Duration:

  • The fellowship will be for three years at first, with the possibility of a two-year extension based on performance.
  • A maximum of 5 years can be spent on the fellowship.

Nomination Process:

  • Heads of institutions/organizations, Presidents/fellows of national science/engineering academies, SS Bhatnagar Awardees, and JC Bose Awardees can all submit the nominations.
  • There is no last date for the scheme the nominations will be accepted at any time during the year.

Number of Fellowships:

  • Each year, a maximum of ten (10) fellowships will be awarded.

Selection Process:

  • Abdul Kalam Technology Innovation National Fellows will be chosen twice a year by a Search-Cum-Selection Expert Committee created specifically for the purpose, in accordance with the fellowship’s comprehensive standards.
